Rubén González Fontanills was a Cuban pianist renowned for his significant impact on modern Cuban piano playing during the 1940s. He performed with various esteemed Cuban musical groups including Paulina Álvarez, Arsenio Rodríguez, Orquesta América del 55, Orquesta Riverside, and Enrique Jorrín from the 1940s until his retirement in the 1980s. Making a return in the 1990s, he collaborated with the Afro-Cuban All Stars and Buena Vista Social Club, produced solo works, and entertained audiences with live performances until 2002.
