(Cuban Boxer) Kid Gavilán, a Cuban boxer, held the NYSAC, WBA, and The Ring welterweight titles simultaneously from 1951 to 1954. He was named Fighter of the Year in 1953 by the Boxing Writers Association of America. The Ring magazine ranked him 26th among the greatest fighters in the last 80 years. Gavilán was inducted into The Ring magazine's Boxing Hall of Fame in 1966 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
