Virginia Pérez-Ratton, also known as Virginia Pérez Johnston, was a prominent Costa Rican artist, art historian, critic, and curator. She dedicated her career to promoting visual arts and supporting artists in Central America and the Caribbean. Pérez-Ratton served as the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design in San José, where she organized exhibitions, founded the art center TEOR/éTica, and facilitated international artistic initiatives. Her efforts were recognized with prestigious awards, including the Prince Claus Award and the Magón National Prize for Culture.
