(Magistrate) Zarela Villanueva Monge is a Costa Rican magistrate who served as President of the Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica from 2013 to 2017. She has a law degree and specialized in Agricultural Law. Over the years, she held various positions in the judicial system, including judge in civil and labor cases, magistrate of the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court, Vice-President of the Supreme Court, and eventually became the first female President of the Supreme Court in Costa Rican history. She retired in 2017.
