Carlos Alberto Valderrama Palacio, also known as "El Pibe," is a retired Colombian professional footballer and sports commentator. He was an attacking midfielder and is widely regarded as one of the greatest South American players in history. Valderrama was included in Pelé's FIFA 100 list of the world's top living players. He won the prestigious South American Footballer of the Year award twice and represented Colombia in three FIFA World Cups and five Copa América tournaments. Valderrama also played in Major League Soccer, where he played a key role in promoting the league and was honored with a spot on the MLS All-Time Best XI.
