Wei Yi is a distinguished Chinese chess grandmaster recognized for his exceptional accomplishments early in his career. Becoming a grandmaster at the age of 13, he ranked as the 9th youngest in history. Wei achieved the title of the youngest player to reach a rating of 2700 at age 15. He competes for the Jiangsu club in the China Chess League and has secured victory in the Chinese Chess Championship three times. Furthermore, Wei emerged victorious at the 2018 Asian Chess Championship and the Tata Steel Masters in 2024.
