Wayne Gretzky is a former Canadian ice hockey player. He is regarded as one of the best ice hockey players of all time. Nicknamed ‘The Great One,’ his ‘National Hockey League’ (NHL) career lasted almost two decades from 1979 to 1999, during which he played for four NHL teams. He has the most number of goals and assists in NHL history, and held 61 NHL records at the time of his retirement in 1999. Playing his very first NHL season for ‘Edmonton Oilers,’ he was named the ‘Most Valuable Player of the Season.’ Almost immediately after announcing his retirement, he was inducted into the ‘Hockey Hall of Fame,’ marking an end to a glorious career. He attributes most of his magnificent hockey skills to the fact that he started very early. By the age of two, he was already skating on ice and by the time he turned six, he was competing with teenage boys. To this date, Wayne holds 61 records that he made during his career at the ‘National Hockey League.’ He also served as the head coach of ‘Phoenix Coyotes’ for several years.
