(Diplomat) Ferdinand Léopold Oyono was a prominent Cameroonian diplomat, politician, and author celebrated for his influential anti-colonialist novels, considered classics of 20th-century African literature. Serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Culture in Cameroon, he also held various diplomatic roles, including ambassadorships to multiple countries, and chaired UNICEF. Despite his dismissal from the government in 2007, he remained a key advisor to President Biya. Oyono passed away unexpectedly in 2010 during a visit by the UN Secretary-General.
