Joel Hans Embiid is a Cameroon-born basketball player, who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Embiid has been a part of two All-Star games. Before being drafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, he played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks for a span of one year. He is the third player to be selected and also the highest paid selected player from his native country, Cameroon. During his time with the Kansas Jayhawks, he was among the 30 finalists nominated for the Naismith College Player of the Year. He made his debut for the 76ers quite late due to his foot and knee injuries. In his debut season, he was named to be a part of the NBA All-Rookie First Team even though he had played only 31 games for his team. Embiid has been nicknamed ‘The Process’. He was chosen in the preliminary team to play for Cameroon at the 2017 FIBA AfroBasket in the Republic of Congo, but he did not compete in it.
