Kang Kek Iew

Kang Kek Iew, also known as Comrade Duch, was a Cambodian war criminal and leader in the Khmer Rouge movement. He was responsible for overseeing the Tuol Sleng (S-21) prison camp where numerous individuals were interrogated, tortured, and executed. Comrade Duch was the first Khmer Rouge leader to face trial at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. He was found guilty of crimes against humanity, murder, and torture. While he acknowledged his actions and expressed remorse, discrepancies were uncovered in his testimony during the trial.
