(Painter) Vann Nath, a prominent Cambodian painter, artist, writer, and human rights activist, gained recognition for his artistic talents and was honored with the prestigious Lillian Hellman/Hammett Award. As one of the few adult survivors of the brutal S-21 camp under the Khmer Rouge regime, he demonstrated resilience and courage throughout his professional life. His work as an artist and activist was dedicated to preserving the memory of the atrocities committed during that dark period in Cambodian history.
