(Grandson of former United Nations Secretary-General U Thant) Thant Myint-U, a Burmese-American historian and writer, is recognized for his deep knowledge of Burmese history and politics. He is the author of several well-known books, including "The River of Lost Footsteps" and "Where China Meets India." Thant Myint-U is the founder of the Yangon Heritage Trust, which works to preserve colonial architecture in Yangon and promote urban planning. Currently, he holds the position of Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Christ's College, Cambridge, and serves as a United Nations Special Adviser on Humanitarian Diplomacy.
