Alaungpaya

Alaungpaya founded and served as the first emperor of the Konbaung Dynasty in Burma. Starting as a village chief in Upper Burma, he successfully unified the country and expanded its territories. Alaungpaya subdued Manipur, conquered Lan Na, and launched victorious attacks against the French and British East India companies. He also added settlements around Dagon, which he renamed Yangon. Alaungpaya is celebrated as one of Burma's most illustrious monarchs, as he achieved the country's unification for the third time in its history.
