Harry Edward Styles is an English singer and songwriter, best known as a former member of the famous pop rock band One Direction. Blessed with a passion for music, Styles immersed himself in the field at a young age. He made his debut by auditioning for the British television music competition The X Factor in 2010. Though he did not advance to the Judges' Houses round as a solo artist, he was brought back and grouped with four other contestants—Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson—to form One Direction. Despite being the youngest member of the band, Styles quickly became a fan favorite due to his musical talent, charm, and charisma. During their five-year run, One Direction broke several records, becoming the only boy band to have its first four albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200 in the United States. They also became the first boy band in U.S. chart history to land two number-one albums in the same calendar year (2014). Following the group's self-imposed hiatus in 2016, Styles pursued a solo career, signing a record deal with Columbia Records. His debut self-titled solo album, released in 2017, was both a critical and commercial success. In addition to his music career, Styles has also appeared in television and film, including a cameo in the Nickelodeon series iCarly, the concert documentary film One Direction: This Is Us (2013), and the critically acclaimed Christopher Nolan war film Dunkirk (2017), in which he played a lead role.
