Maurren Maggi

Maurren Higa Maggi, a retired Brazilian track and field athlete and Olympic gold medallist, holds the South American records in the 100 metres hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. In 2003, she faced a doping scandal which she attributed to using an anti-scarring gel sheet. As a result, Maurren was suspended for two years, causing her to miss the 2003 Pan American Games. Notable achievements in her career include being the first Brazilian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in an individual sport and finishing second in the 2009 Troféu Brasil Caixa de Atletismo.
