Lyoto Machida

Description: (Brazilian Professional Mixed Martial Artist and Karateka)

Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida is a Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He is a former ‘Ultimate Fighting Championship’ (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion. Machida was discovered by ‘New Japan Pro-Wrestling’ (NJPW) legend Antonio Inoki and was trained by well-known wrestlers, such as Kazuyuki Fujita, Wallid Ismail, and Marco Ruas. He has secured wins over some of the most prominent fighters in MMA. While fighting, Machida follows an unorthodox style that combines techniques from various martial arts, such as Shotokan karate, sumo, wrestling, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. His MMA career took a back seat when he was suspended by the ‘United States Anti-Doping Agency’ (USADA) for 18 months. He made a comeback on October 8, 2017, and is currently signed with ‘Bellator MMA,’ which is one of the largest MMA promoters in the world.
