Julia Urquidi Illanes was a Bolivian writer recognized for her role as Chief of Protocol in the office of the mayor of La Paz and as a personal secretary for first ladies of Bolivia. She was also known as the first wife of Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa and as the inspiration for the character Aunt Julia in his novel "Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter." In 1983, she published her memoir titled "Lo que Varguitas no dijo" in response to a soap opera adaptation of the novel.
