Zhabdrung Rinpoche, also known as Jigme Ngawang Namgyal, was a prominent spiritual leader in Bhutan who fled to India in 1962. He played a significant role in Bhutanese history, especially during the period of political transition and reform. Rinpoche was revered by his followers and attracted pilgrims from Bhutan. He was considered a threat to the Bhutanese monarchy, leading to his exile. Rinpoche's successor, Jigme Jigdrel Namgyel, continued his spiritual legacy after his passing in 2003.
