The Je Khenpo holds the prestigious title of the senior religious hierarch in Bhutan, overseeing the Central Monastic Body and leading the Dratshang Lhentshog. Their responsibilities include arbitrating on matters of doctrine, conducting important liturgical and religious duties nationwide, and serving as the leader of the southern branch of the Drukpa Kagyu sect. Only the Je Khenpo and the King of Bhutan are permitted to wear a saffron kabney. Supported by Five Lopen Rinpoches, the Je Khenpo plays a crucial role in upholding and promoting Himalayan Buddhism traditions.
