Belgian professional cyclist Rik Van Looy was known as the King of the Classics for his dominant performances in classic cycle races in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was a two-time world professional road race champion and the first cyclist to win all five 'Monuments,' the most prestigious one-day classics. Van Looy achieved 367 professional road victories, ranking second all-time behind Eddy Merckx. Throughout his career, he engaged in fierce sporting rivalries with cycling legends Rik Van Steenbergen and Eddy Merckx, despite facing numerous falls and injuries.
