Jasimuddin, also known as Palli Kabi, was a prominent Bangladeshi poet, lyricist, composer, and writer renowned for his modern ballad sagas in the pastoral style. He played a significant role in revitalizing pastoral literature in Bengal during the 20th century. Jasimuddin's literary breadth was evident in his diverse works, including poems, ballads, songs, dramas, novels, stories, memoirs, and travelogues. Throughout his distinguished career, he held positions as a research fellow at Calcutta University, taught at the University of Dhaka, and worked in the Department of Information and Broadcasting. Jasimuddin received prestigious awards for his contributions, such as the President's Award for Pride of Performance, Ekushey Padak, and Swadhinata Dibas Puruskar. His legacy is commemorated through the Jasimuddin Literary Award, established by the Bangla Academy.
