Movses Khorenatsi was a prominent Armenian historian known for his seminal work, the History of the Armenians. As the first attempt at a universal history of Armenia, his writings remain a crucial source for early Armenian history. Movses was recognized as the "father of Armenian history" and compared to the "Armenian Herodotus" for his significant contributions to Armenian historiography. He identified himself as a disciple of Mesrop Mashtots and claimed to have written his history at the request of Prince Sahak of the Bagratuni dynasty, solidifying his legacy in Armenian historical literature.
