Robert Emmiyan, a retired long jumper from Armenia, had a successful career representing both the USSR and Armenia. He is renowned as the fourth best long jumper in history, boasting a personal best jump of 8.86 meters achieved in 1987, which still holds as the current European record. In recognition of his athletic accomplishments, Emmiyan was awarded the Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR in 1987. The Emmiyan Cup, an annual track and field meeting in Artashat, Armenia, has been held in his honor since 2001.
