Description:
(Theologian)
Muhammad ibn Ali as-Senussi was an Algerian Muslim theologian who founded the Senussi mystical order in 1837. He led a militant mystical movement that played a crucial role in Libya's fight for independence from Italy in 1947. As a significant leader of the Senussi military campaign, he inspired figures like Omar Mukhtar. His leadership and teachings had a lasting impact, as evidenced by his grandson Idris I's reign as king of Libya from 1951 to 1969.
