Messali Hadj was a prominent Algerian nationalist politician dedicated to achieving independence from French colonial rule. Despite distancing himself from armed struggles for independence in 1954, he continued his political endeavors by founding the Mouvement national algérien to counteract the efforts of the Front de libération nationale. Throughout his career, he was known as a key figure in the fight for Algerian nationalism.
