Ferhat Abbas was an Algerian politician who served as the provisional Prime Minister of Algeria from 1958 to 1961. He was also the first President of the National Assembly and the first acting Chief of State after independence. Initially advocating for political rights and French citizenship for Algerian Muslims in France, he later became a revolutionary Algerian nationalist. Abbas played a significant role in the Young Algerians movement and was a key figure in Algeria's fight for independence.
