Rashid Khan is an Afghan cricketer who plays for the Afghan national cricket team and the ‘Indian Premier League’ (IPL) team ‘Sunrisers Hyderabad.’ Rashid was born in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, into a huge family. He was one of the 11 children in his family. He grew up amidst extremely difficult conditions, as Afghanistan was facing a war at that time. His family fled to Pakistan for a few years, where Rashid Khan developed an interest in playing cricket for the first time. After the situation in Afghanistan came under control, Rashid’s family returned to their country. There, Rashid resumed his education. Rashid currently plays as an all-rounder. He made his international Test debut against India in 2008. It was Afghanistan’s first-ever Test match, and Rashid performed exceptionally well in the game. In February 2018, at the age of 19, Rashid became the youngest bowler to top the ‘International Cricket Council’ (ICC) one-day international (ODI) rankings. After his excellent performance during the 2018 ‘Asia Cup,’ Rashid also topped the list of ‘ICC’s all-rounder rankings. He captained Afghanistan during the 2018 ‘World Cup Qualifier’ tournament and became the youngest cricketer in history to lead an international side. He was signed by the ‘IPL’ team ‘Sunrisers Hyderabad’ in 2017. He also played for local Afghan teams such as ‘Kabul Zwanan.'
