(Civil Rights Activist) Marsha P. Johnson was an influential American gay liberation activist and self-identified drag queen. She played a vital role in the Stonewall uprising of 1969 and was a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front (GLF). Johnson, along with Sylvia Rivera, co-founded the radical activist group Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR). She was actively involved in New York's gay community and art scene, as well as being an AIDS activist with ACT UP. Johnson's professional life was dedicated to advocating for gay rights, art modeling, drag performances, and AIDS activism.
