He had a great international acclaim by his version of Otello (1956) and engaged to the Soviet cinema two French stars: Marina Vlady for Lika in Syuzhet dlya nebolshogo rasskaza (1969) and Claude Jade for Inessa in _Lenin v Parizhe (1980)_.
