Sumalatha is an Indian film actress and politician. Born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, her full name is Sumalatha Ambareesh. She has primarily worked in the Kannada film industry, although she has also appeared in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi films.

Sumalatha made her acting debut in 1979 with the Kannada film "Ganeshana Maduve." Over the years, she has gained recognition for her versatile roles in various films. Some of her notable movies include "Anuraga Aralithu," "Neenu Nakkare Haalu Sakkare," and "Thayi Mamathe."
