Jakob Schäuffelen is the son of a Czech actress and a German psychiatrist. He grew up in Munich and attended the film schools in Vienna and Hamburg. After working as an Assistant Director he made his directorial debut in 1997 with an episode of a German crime series. So far he has directed 8 TV movies, 45 episodes of TV series and the feature film "Abgefahren". The first 3 episodes of the award-winning series Edel & Starck (2002) were created by him. In 2012 he produced and directed the documentary "Vollkontakt - Ein Lebens-Weg" about MMA fighters. Jakob lives with his wife and two children in Berlin.
