Julie Estelle was born to a French father and Indonesian mother. She has two older sisters, her older sister Cathy Sharon is also an actress. Julie Estelle speaks fluent Indonesian (native language), French and English. She gained more international fame after starring in Gareth Evans' movie The Raid 2: Berandal, through which she attended to international film festivals such as Sundance Film Festival along with her co-star Iko Uwais. During the filming of The Raid 2, Julie was new to martial arts but was trained extensively to portray her character Hammer Girl. Julie Estelle has already collaborated with actor Iko Uwais 3 times, in The Raid 2 (2014), Headshot (2016) and The Night Comes for Us (2018). Headshot (2016) also starred another talented Indonesian actress, Chelsea Islan.
