In an interview with Terry Gross on "Fresh Air" she told how she faked her
way into a job as a disc jockey at KJAZ in San Francisco. She says she
knew nothing about jazz, but the station manager interviewing her for
the job told her to go into the station library and find the 100 best
jazz albums. What she did was make a list of the albums that were most
worn on their covers' corners and edges.
