Summary It is early May 1945 and the war is ending. The region adjacent to the river Elbe is full of retreating German soldiers and evacuated townsfolk. The cargo ship "Moldau" with a Czech crew escorted by German soldiers cruises the river. The explosives transported on it are supposed to assist the withdrawal of a German army unit from one of the settlements. Mechanic Rudla (Jaromír Hanzlík), shipman Vrána (Josef Vetrovec) and steersmen Vanis (Eduard Cupák) plan to take flight as soon as the boat arrives on shore, but the Germans keep detaining other men to add to the crew for unloading the dangerous cargo. Gambled Daughter

The story of this play revolves around a poor Bengali family. The father Shareef is disheartened from people for whom he has been working and started playing gambling as a way out. He has no job. His wife works as maid to make both ends meet. Shareef snatches money from his wife for his gambling fun. Whereas his wife wants to collect dowry from her wages for daughter's wedding which is planned with her sister's son soon. Shareef always thinks that one day he will win a big amount in gambling and from that money his all problems will be solved. One day while playing he was quiet over confident about his cards that he bet for his own daughter but unfortunately he lost the game and so his daughter. His wife stood in front of him for their daughter. She doesn't want to send her daughter with those people. They send Shareef behind the bars. She went to gambling den and asked the master for some mercy but he refused. He said people will raise questions on his power so a woman is committed and he will take woman only not money. She offered herself and he agreed. She did not tell anything to her daughter but to only her sister. Her sister tried to stop her but she did not and asked her to wed her daughter with her son that night. Sister agreed and the wedding took place same day. She told Shareef about their daughter wedding and that she is going there instead of their daughter. Shareef is shocked on this news and ran from jail the same night. Next day when Reshma was getting ready to go there, same time police came and asked about Shareef. And told her that he has murdered Rafiq.
