Mr. Noom

A movie about love, hope, and despair by Martin Beek and Karel Hamm. An unexpected love story, approached from an unexpected angle, with a terrified anti-hero, a milkmaid, and a dead comrade.

In a remote area in Afghanistan, stories of the lives of a young shepherdess, a bird catcher boy and a mourning teacher are intertwined by the wounds of war which are still bleeding.

Two young boys living in a small town in the east of Poland try to survive the war by working as projectionists in a local cinema. They provide entertainment to Poles, Germans and Russians alike.

1962, in Algeria. The journalist Jérome Cartier is called into the ranks of the French army, where he meets his friend François. The latter is the victim of an attack by the OAS. Jérome tracks the culprits.

Set in the aftermath of World War II, the film recounts the adventures of a Polish soldier caught in the turmoil among the Polish Communist army, anti-communist underground, and Ukrainian nationalists.
