Summary Sonja was about to marry Kim, but in the middle of the wedding preparations, he's suddenly taken ill; driving him to the hospital, Sonja is involved in a car crash, and Kim dies in the hospital. After she recovers from the worst trauma, Sonja starts to sort out the practicalities connected to Kim's death. It transpires that Kim had been lying to her about his entire life. The successful businessman turns out to be an unemployed idler who, to top it all, was about to leave Sonja just before the wedding. The man Sonja was marrying did not exist. Sonja starts to probe into Kim's hidden past, as it has been her past; It is the only way for Sonja to survive her loss. Married To A Lie gradually evolves into a multilevel thriller in which the real meanings of the actions won't be revealed to the audience until the very end of the story. Sonja is getting married to Kimi. During the wedding preparations, Kimi has a sudden attack of illness. Sonja drives him to the hospital, but on the way, she has an accident and Kimi dies in hospital. Sonja is in shock. She is certain that she has caused Kimi's death, until his autopsy report and Inspector Tuomo Alatalo's investigation show that his death was a suicide. Kimi had taken a drug overdose. Once she gets over the worst of her shock, Sonja starts to take care of practical matters related to Kimi's death. She discovers that Kimi had been lying to her from the beginning. The man Sonja was going to marry never existed. She begins to uncover his hidden past, since it had been her past as well. She finds out about the mysterious Niko and Nina, whom she had never even heard about. Niko had left several threatening messages on Kimi's phone the day he had died. Sonja finds a farewell message Kimi had written to her in her mail box. According to the letter, Kimi was about to leave her before the wedding. Sonja's world begins to fall apart.
