Leyuad: A Trip to the Verses Well

'Traveling is giving up something to find something new'. Liman Boisha, a Saharaui poet living in Madrid, feels that he has turned 'dry of the Sahara', and travels to western Sahara to regain inspiration for his verses. There, Hamida Abdullah, tells him about the trip they made together with the philosopher Belga Mohamed Salem and the poet and erudite Bonnana Busseid to Leyuad, in the heart of the Tiris, the ancestral Land of the Men of the Book, the génesis of the identity of the Saharaui people, a road shown to them by Badi Mohamed Salem, the greatest of living Saharaui poets. A hard, long trip, but, with the plan they had of looking for inspiration, and the source of poetry, proving to be an emotive and poetical journey. In his tent at Leyuad awaits Sidi Brahim, the poet who will show the miracles of this unique place and reveal to them the myths and secrets of the genii of the desert, those who 'may not be named'. 'Valley of verses memory of time that keeps grinding the substance of the stars'.

Byakkotai was part of Aizu's four-unit military, set up in the domain's drive to finalize its military modernization, in the wake of the Battle of Toba-Fushimi. The other three units were Genbutai, Seiryutai, and Suzakutai. Each of the four was named after the protecting gods of compass directions. Byakkotai was meant to be a reserve unit, as it was composed of the young teenage 16 to 17-year-old sons of Aizu samurai in a group of around 350, who fought in the Boshin War (1868-1869)
