Meines Vaters Pferde, 1. Teil: Lena und Nicoline

Based in Seattle, a struggling art student named Noah, who attends the University of Washington, was kidnapped at eight months old and didn't know it until an encounter with his adopted mother. He has to make the hard decision on whether he wants to continue with what he knows as his family, name, birthday, etc., or if he wants to pursue finding out who he is by searching for extended family members. Through trial and error, Noah must decide if this is something he needs to feel fulfilled in life. It's Noah's choice in the end.

Ramata is a spellbindingly beautiful woman in her fifties. She has been married for thirty years now to Matar Samb, a very rich man, a former prosecutor who is now Minister of Justice. They live in Les Almadies, an elegant neighborhood of Dakar. Ngor Ndong is twenty-five. He is young, strong, mysterious and homeless. He is an occasional petty crook, known to the police. One evening, in a taxi that Ngor Ndong just happens to be driving, Ramata, reticent at first, finally agrees to follow this young man half her age to the Copacabana, a dive in the seediest part of Dakar.

Unknown to the strict eldest sister, to her horror, the three younger ones, along with studies have boyfriends. Their escapades, behind her back, are encouraged by the resident uncle.

19-year-old Leonard Marshall and his mother, Catherine Fisher, struggle to survive in their rundown motel. Leonard aspires to help his family by starting a ghost hunting web-series. His dreams are cut drastically short when he is fired from his janitorial job. Out of fear and shame, Leonard does not reveal to his mother his unemployment status. Leonard successfully finds an opening for a driver for hire position. Enter Frank Hartsfield, a former truck driver and male breast cancer patient living at a cancer treatment clinic. Leonard learns that Frank needs a "gopher" to help him around the clinic and a driver to take him to his daughters wedding. At the clinic he meets former 50's Hollywood actress, Emma Fields. Attempting to develop a friendship with her, Leonard is quickly met with bitter hostility from Emma. With the bills stacking up, Catherine begins to question the financial state of the family. Leonard relationship continues to grow with Frank as he becomes the father he never had. But all is tested and tried once Leonard finds out the truth about Frank's life and the health of his mother.
