Summary Koji and Shizuko have soon been married for 5 years. To pay for the land and construction of their house, Koji spends more and more time at work. Shizuko on the other hands commutes to a mental health clinic where she's enjoying an illicit relationship with the clinic's attending physician, Toshiro Fujimura. One day, Shizuko and Toshiro become involved in a traffic accident. Toshiro dies, while Shizuko becomes is in a serious condition, unconscious. Through the accident, Koji finds out about Shizuko's infidelity, and is emotionally ripped apart by anger and sadness. In this grievous state, Fujimura's wife, Miwa, appears.
