Magistrate Marley Wise has an inattentive husband with a failed business, and a lover who is a little too sure of their relationship. A series of accidents leave both men and the female local vicar dead and only Marley can see their ghosts.

The three ghosts are still residing in Marley's house and driving her up the wall. Attempting to escape their bickering she flees the house with the vicar in ghostly pursuit but only succeeds in worrying the neighbors and being burgled.

The vicar has developed an infatuation with the neighbor's's son, Gary. Meanwhile, Marley is surprised to receive a visit from a complete stranger but even more surprised that the visitor could be a daughter that Adam knew nothing about.
