In the summer of 1944, Nazi Germany's military intelligence service Abwehr sends their Dutch secret agent Andreas Engvird to assassinate the communist resistance leader in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito.

Romanticized story of Louise de Bettignies (1880-1918), a French spy and heroin of the First World War. In October 1914, in occupied Roubaix, Geneviève de Vandeville manages to deliver mail in secret to the still free zone. She is soon contacted by the Intelligence Service who asks her to lead a team of spies. Responsible for delivering intelligence about German troops to the French and British, she enlists the help of Maria, a young girl who becomes her friend. One day, Maria and her lover Charles ask Geneviève to plan their escape into Holland. This mission will prove fatal for Geneviève. She is detected by the German counterespionage, arrested, and imprisoned in Brussels. She becomes sick and dies in prison before the war ends. Some time later, Maria and Charles pay their respects to the monument in effigy of Louise de Bettignies.

Clandestine Olympics are to be held in a German POW camp during World War II which houses many Poles, but also French and British. A spit and polish German lieutenant is added to the staff of the camp. He recognizes one of the Poles, the acknowledged leader of the Polish prisoners, as an athlete against whom he had competed during the Berlin Olympics in 1936. He asks the Pole to train with him but is refused; the Pole points out that he is a prisoner and nothing more, but that plants a seed and the Pole proposes an Olympics 40 to be held among the prisoners. They ingeniously make a flag and medals, set up a number of races; a crouching hop race is unwittingly organized by a German prison guard who uses it as a form of torture. The German lieutenant knows that something is going on but cannot figure it out. Finally the Germans realize what's going on and the Polish leader is sent to a concentration camp, but the others disobey the orders.
