Bread and Iron tells the story of Syrian laborers in Lebanon.depicting their daily in an environment that frowns upon them with suspicion and hostility.unable to return to their homes due to the raging war,many find themselves stuck on Lebanese construction sited,building Beirut's skyline under the whim of exploitative employers. in a series of conversations ,young and old laborers talk about estrangement,hardship,and dreams for the future.Their testimonies point at a stark reality that goes largely ignored,especially now that their home country is on fire.

His experiences during his time served were life changing along with his perspective on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Salam Ismael from Baghdad was studying to be an orthopedic surgeon when the U.S. invaded Fallujah. He relates first-hand accounts of what went on in the city shortly after the U.S. sieges took place. Salam is a member of a group called Doctors for Iraq who are striving to help bring a sense of humanity back to his country.
