Johnny PhD - Tass Part II

Johnny PhD - Tass Part II

In "Masol: The Last Village of Punjab," Johnny, a Ph.D. research student from Punjab University, embarks on a weekend field trip to the remote village of Masol. Nestled amidst treacherous roads , bypassed by the government, Masol reveals a unique history. Once a treasure trove of Palaeolithic fossils, it was exploited by palaeontologists, from all over the world , who after their exit , unconsciously created a community of children who had acquired the knack for fossil excavation and discovered its commercial value, through observation. Johnny the PhD scholar on his field trip, pitches his tent , rolls out his bed and encounters these remarkable children, who effortlessly identify ancient fossils , which they call "Rakshis Daant" or demon teeth. They become accomplices of Johnny, helping him procure and purchases some of the fossils. The village is steeped in ancient folklore and mythology, and it seems as if they are part of a forgotten land . The inhabitants worship a crocodile god symbolizing chao and disorder , with the fossil of the crocodiles' being the most sought after and sacred remnants. As Johnny, the outsider, during the process of his research sinks into an abysses of darkness due to a series of unexpected circumstances , where all his research material gets stolen including his personal belongings. In his desperate search for his fragmented parts , he finds himself sucked in the belief systems of the village and enters a dream-like scenario where belief, faith, fantasy and curiosity takes him to a certain level of fantastical consciousness "Masol: The Last Village of Punjab" is a haunting tale of culture clash, spirituality, and the relentless quest for knowledge in the face of the unknown.
