Roubaix, la nouvelle face du Pile
The municipality of Roubaix has put houses up for sale at one euro to revitalize and transform the Pile, one of the most deprived neighborhoods in one of the poorest cities in France. This is an unprecedented laboratory for city policy, which aims to bring about a profound societal change. But at what price for the most vulnerable populations? The mayor of Roubaix, Guillaume Delbar, is determined to change the bad reputation of the district, which is plagued by unemployment, insalubrity and drug trafficking. Since the closure of the spinning mills, many of the working-class brick houses have been abandoned and walled up. It is a heroic and little-known episode of the Second World War. Winter 43: De Gaulle secretly sends his two master spies into occupied Paris. He entrusts Colonel Passy and Pierre Brossolette, number 1 and 2 of the BCRA, with the crucial mission of unifying the Resistance networks in the northern zone. Fierce and hardened by three years of occupation, the shadow soldiers were placed under the authority of the General. This historic mission was a military one: it was necessary to prepare the D-Day landings. But it was also political: De Gaulle had to prove his legitimacy as leader of the Resistance to Churchill and Roosevelt. "The General's spies" is a unique dive into the Paris of the Occupation.
