Carrasco, the local policeman assigned as his partner, tries to explain the official theory: The girls fled the hell of their homes to prostitute themselves abroad. Rojas's investigation and the disappearance of Ávila's daughter, a fisherman in the area, reveal a much worse truth. Rojas is convinced that the young women were kidnapped or murdered.
