Kukuczka

Summary Jerzy Kukuczka is today considered throughout the world to be the greatest Himalayan man of all time. He was the second man to conquer all four peaks over 8,000 meters on Earth but, unlike his western counterparts like Reinhold Messner, who benefited from all the advanced technologies, Jerzy Kukuczka lived in communist Poland and had to making do with basic equipment, feeding themselves on site with canned goods from military warehouses. Despite this, he accomplished this feat in just 8 years, an absolute record, and by multiplying the winters and new routes. A true force of nature, he died tragically in 1989, falling 3000 meters during an attempt to climb the legendary south face of Lhotse (8516 m). This strong and moving film retraces the life, exploits and career of a mountaineering legend, a hero of modern times, thanks to previously unseen images of his expeditions, also thanks to Reinhold Messner, Carlos Carsolio, Krzysztof . Wielicki and Kurt Diemberger, the world's biggest mountaineering stars. View more details
