By sheer coincidence, he finally discovers a trace of the perpetrator. But again the killer is one step ahead of him.

During his investigations in the film environment, Commissioner Maurice LaBréa comes across many suspects. Mathieu Salmi, the young director of Molin's current production, takes the death of his client indifferently. Salmi is only interested in the completion of the film from which he hopes his breakthrough will be achieved. LaBréa does not hide the fact that Salmi's partner Caroline Becker, the big star of the film, had a forced affair with Molin. The behavior of Molin's wealthy widow Germaine is also obscure. Although she financed her husband's last production with 1.6 million euros from her private assets, she shows no interest in the completion of the film. The fragile woman is fixated on her young lover Vincent Brihac, for whom she tries to create a false alibi. However, the testimony of a taxi driver who drove Brihac to Molin's office on the night of the murder brought Germain's lover into the focus of the investigation. LaBréa also finds out that Molin hired the dodgy gigolo to influence Germaine in his favor. LaBréa, who forges delicate bonds with his pretty neighbor Céline during the turbulent investigation, is still not convinced of Brihac's guilt. When the inspector finally finds out that Molin was actually funding the film with extorted money, he holds the key to solving the case.

The murder of ex-convict Pascal Masson is a mystery to Commissioner LaBréa. The shackled victim bled to death after being mutilated in the genital area. At the scene of the crime, the police found a music cassette with Ravel's "Bolero" - a message? The commissioner receives information about a similar case from his colleague Franck Zechira. A rapist hanged himself in custody after falling into the hands of a group of radical feminists practicing vigilante justice using hard-to-remove paint. Although the unknown women have so far limited themselves to symbolic castration, LaBréa cannot rule them out as suspects. When looking for the members of the group, he repeatedly comes across Christine Payan. The well-known psychologist is involved in the care of rape victims and knows more about this group than she says. While LaBréa grits his teeth against the aloof Madame Payan, his relationship with the enchanting neighbor Céline grows closer. But since the anniversary of his wife's death is imminent, he does not dare to stand by his feelings - also out of consideration for his daughter Jenny. With another murder of Stefan Vlankovic, who was obviously in hiding in Paris, carried out according to the same pattern, a hot lead finally emerges: The Serb Vlankovic and ex-Foreign Legionnaire Masson knew each other from the Balkan War. The European Court of Justice in The Hague has a long file on Vlankovic for various war crimes. The solution to the case, however, harbors a painful surprise for LaBréa and his colleague Franck Zechira.
