Bubble up tells the stories of young university students from two competing schools, who decide to open a joint youtube channel representing the student bodies of both universities. Kim Se Woon, a second year business student at Dae Han University. The character is known for his bright and generous personality, but he feels envy toward the more confident and straightforward On Ha Young.

In Akabane, Tokyo, an old person, who lived alone, is found dead. The elderly person was strangled to death. Detectives from the Akabane Police Station investigate the case. According to the victim's neighbors, a woman sometimes came in and out of the victim's home. That woman is Miki Yamamoto. She does housework for her customers. The detectives from Akabane Police Station visit Miki's house. At that time, other detectives from Saitama Prefecture also arrive at Miki's house. Multiple suspicious death cases have taken place at her prior clients' homes. The media begin covering the story as a serial killer case. Who is Miki Yamamoto? What is the truth behind the cases?

The TV adaptation of László Németh's monumental novel spans Hungarian history in the first half of the 20th century. Protagonist Eszter's more or less average life is just a frame for the story. The location is an imaginary dusty town in the Alföld, the plain south-east area of the country. Eszter was born and raised here by her father, a lawyer for the poor. After World War I she marries a young pharmacist. They move to a nearby village where she experiences the happiest period of her life. After returning to the city she bears a son and a daughter. However, Esther becomes estranged more and more from her husband and his environment. Towards the end of WWII the family splits up: Józsi flees for west with little Esther; Józsika stays with his mother. She qualifies herself for work and for living her life independently.
