Summary The Berlin writer Agnes Berg receives a literary prize for her new novel, in which she writes sensitively about dying. But then the unbelievable happens: Her only daughter Johanna, who has settled in Mallorca, her adopted home with her Spanish husband and two children, is killed in a car accident. Agnes is shaken because the painful argument that had divided mother and daughter for 15 years can no longer be resolved. Agnes travels to Spain with her best friend Katharina, where a frosty reception awaits them. The grandchildren Natascha and Enrico have never seen their German grandmother and are dismissive.
