The story based on the novel of Fazil Iskander - classic of Soviet literature he lived in Abkhazia and has Persian origin: his father was from Iran. Sofichka is the name of the heroine whose life from 1938 till 1960 is the subject of the film. Exile, love, murder of her husband by her own brother.

"Water Lilies" is the story of Richard, a psychiatrist, and the intertwined lives of his three patients. Katherine, a schoolteacher, complains of the affairs she's having. John, a surgeon, worries that his wife is having affairs. Jennifer, a college student, admits to having an affair with a married man, who happens to be a surgeon. In the therapy sessions, Richard confides to each that he plans to quit his practice. Even with the dissolution of their relationships, the patients must give Richard a compelling reason to stay.

Frankfurt, Germany, 1807. Clemens Bretano, a writer, meets Auguste Bußman, a 17-year old girl from a wealthy banker's family. She is a very passionate and impulsive being and immediately falls in love with him. In contrary to her, Clemens is a silent thinker who expresses his feelings in writing better than in life. Together they tumble into a passionate relationship that later they turn into marriage. Auguste gets expelled from her family and now only has Clemens to be with. But the artist grows tired of her incredible amount of passion to give and attention to receive and threatens to divorce her. From then on, Auguste tries everything to keep up the marriage, but from time to time her real self breaks through.

In order to make ends meet, three college girls share an old house and an odd assortment of occasional roommates. At a time when all the norms of society are being re-evaluated, who can tell innocent fun from deadly evil?
